We Mean Business is a coalition group of seven international non-profit organisations working with business leaders and governments around the world on climate change. The coalition works to mobilise business through initiating amendments to company policies which assist with decarbonisation and a transition to a net-zero economy.

The coalition’s founding premise is the recognition that the business community is one of the key implementation partners for governments to achieve the climate targets laid out in the Paris Agreement. The coalition uses "ambition loops" to encourage governments to advance ambitious policies that provide companies with the clarity and confidence they need to unlock further investments in climate solutions.

The coalition continues to work with a variety of sectors (including finance, transport, power and the built environment) to set science-based emissions reduction targets and to deliver those targets by urging companies to commit to transition to 100% renewable power.

Clyde & Co is running a virtual legal hackathon between 1 July and 4 August 2020 in partnership with The Chancery Lane Project. This post is part of a series of updates posted during the hackathon on business-relevant climate initiatives and innovative solutions to some of the challenges arising from climate change.
