Interested and concerned to see that despite the amount of national conversation around climate change, there does not appear to have been a reduction in Scope 1 emissions.

With the recent Land and Environment Court decision refusing consent to a proposed coal mine in Gloucester (NSW) on climate change grounds, and increased focus on obligations for businesses to consider and disclose climate change risks, there are legal, commercial and environmental drivers for a clear policy approach by government.

Unfortunately, given the policy vacuum noted by McConnell, it is falling on individual businesses to take leadership on decarbonising their activities into the future.  It's been great to see companies like AGL showing leadership on this point, and expect other companies will have to follow suit.
