On 24 November 2020, the European Parliament finally agreed on a new directive providing for the implementation of an EU-wide collective redress regime by the member states. The legislative procedure at European level, which started with the presentation of the draft directive on representative actions for the protection of the collective interests of consumers on 11 April 2018, is now almost finished. It is now on the member states to implement at least one representative action procedure for consumers in the national laws.
